Director’s Note
It is the mission of the Creative Arts Studio to encourage learning through artistic methods that are individually meaningful to each
student. As we continue in our second decade in business we hold close to this mission.
2008 continued our increased enrollment in the programs our students have grown to love. We watched our Musical Theatre students compose their own songs which then were recorded by professional singers here in the Brooklyn area; we danced the night away at our Holiday Dance Party with live music played by the Mad Jazz Hatters; and always, and in all ways, a fabulous end of year studio showcase, Once a Year Day, at the Brooklyn Museum where again this huge success brought a wonderfully rewarding view of our talented young artists.
The Summer Camp Program, once again, sizzled as it presented all aspects of the arts as tools for learning. A VARIETY of creative activities in painting, singing, acting, dancing, even science based projects, continue to provide learning activities to fill the lazy, hazy summer days. Ask our summer camp students about the fun they had while creating a life size mural for Nature Week or their self-portrait collages made with a variety of materials for Me, Myself & I week; ask our student dancers, painters, actors, & writers about the fun they had designing their own birthday party, an activity we love to provide and continue to expand and celebrate.
2008 brought a second location to the Creative Arts Studio. With our expansion into a second neighborhood we invited, and you responded with enthusiasm, to our growing, and always evolving, artistic programs relevant to the creative arts. Join either location; Atlantic Avenue, or the new studio on Union Street, where I joined Director, David Cascia, in the Elite Fitness Studio facility next door, a second unique environment rich with classes and workshops in exercise, fitness and weight management.
Watch our expanding reach across Brooklyn communities, growing our programs, engaging in new ideas, and always keeping to our mission of guiding student minds and bodies in growing their individual talents. We continue to work with neighborhood businesses to provide opportunities to explore and expand the arts.
Take our creative hands as they spread their reach…. be creative, be fit, & be healthy.
Join us in the arts across Brooklyn…. Creative Arts….Creative Arts Studios … Look for the one nearest you.
We open our doors to open minds.
Sherri Hellman,
Director
